Namaz-e-Gufayla

Salat Ghufailah is a 2 rakat namaz to be recited between Maghreb and Isha.

1. Make Niyat of Salat Ghufaylah and say Takbiratul Ehram
2. In first Rakat recite Sura Fatiha

   بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

   ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

   All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

   ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

   The Beneficent, the Merciful.

   مَٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

   Master of the Day of Judgment.

   إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

   Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.

   ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ

   Keep us on the right path.

   صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

   The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray.
3. Recite the following verses from Surah Yunus after Al Fatiha

   وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَٰضِبًا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

   And Yunus, when he went away in wrath, so he thought that We would not straiten him, so he called out among afflictions: There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss.

   فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُۨجِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

   So We responded to him and delivered him from the grief and thus do We deliver the believers.
4. After Surah Al Hamd in the second Rak’at, recite verse 59 from Al Anaam.

   وَعِندَهُۥ مَفَاتِحُ ٱلْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَآ إِلَّا هُوَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمَٰتِ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَلَا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِى كِتَٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ

   And with Him are the keys of the unseen treasures– none knows them but He; and He knows what is in the land and the sea, and there falls not a leaf but He knows it, nor a grain in the darkness of the earth, nor anything green nor dry but (it is all) in a clear book.
5. In Qunoot of Salat Ghufayla, recite this dua

   اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اَسْالُكَ بِمَفَاتِحِ ٱلْغَْيِبِ

   O Allah, I beseech You in the name of the Keys of the Invisible (world)

   ٱلَّتِي لاَ يَعْلَمُهَا إِلاَّ انْتَ

   that none knows save You;

   اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ وَ انْ…

   (please) send blessings to Muhammad and his Household and…

   …

   You may then mention your needs.

   …

   Then, say the following:

   اَللَّهُمَّ انْتَ وَلِيُّ نِعْمَتِي

   O Allah, You are the source of the graces that I have,

   وَٱلْقَادِرُ عَلَىٰ طَلِبَتِي

   You have the power to respond to my request,

   تَعْلَمُ حَاجَتِي

   and You know my needs;

   فَاسْالُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

   I therefore beseech You in the name of Muhammad and his Household,

   عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

   peace be upon him and them,

   لَمَّا قَضَيْتَهَا لِي

   to grant me my needs.
6. You may then pray to Him for your personal needs, for it has been narrated that any one who offers this prayer and supplicates to Almighty Allah will have his requests granted.
